Privacy policy

When you register for an account to make purchases with us, you’ll need to enter your e-mail address, postal address details and name. We won’t use your contact details for anything other than the purpose for which they were provided unless you opt into our mailing list, where you can receive information on the latest, rarest records in store, events and special offers, as well as articles from our blog. We will never pass your details on to a third party.

Your contact details will be stored when you set up your account or place an order, but this is used for posting your order only and your details will not be automatically added to a mailing list or shared with any other party.

We store your username, address, email and phone number – from the ‘my account’ area of the site along with the IP addresses of the computer that was used for each order when it is placed.

Cookies

On the first visit to The Record Album website, we will send you a cookie which contains your unique user ID. This is a small text file stored on your hard drive which can only be read by our website and does not pose any security risk to you. When you return, the same cookie is sent back to us so we know who you are. This simply means that the site remembers where you were, so you can continue from where you left off last time you were visited. The cookie doesn’t store anything, including personal information, except for this unique user identification information.

If you prefer us not to store a session ID cookie on your computer for this sole purpose, you can disable cookies in your browser settings.

When you make a purchase, three cookies are stored to keep track of cart data. WooCommerce (our third party e-commerce plugin) makes use of three cookies:

woocommerce_cart_hash
woocommerce_items_in_cart
wp_woocommerce_session_

The first two cookies contain information about the cart as a whole and helps WooCommerce know when the cart data changes. The final cookie (wp_woocommerce_session_) contains a unique code for each customer so that it knows where to find the cart data in the database for each customer. No personal information is stored within these cookies.
