World record attempt starts here

It’s not every day you are the starting point for a world record attempt so The Record Album is proud to have sent DJ and music producer Paul Ridney on his way on Tuesday October 14 as he bids to visit the most vinyl record shops in 24 hours across the UK and set a Guinness World Record.

Ridney is a familiar name in global dance music and has appeared regularly in Ibiza. His music has featured in Netflix series and on ITV’s Love Island and his remix of Club Can’t Handle Me featured on the official UK No 1 single package and his track At Night opened Carl Cox’s final Space Ibiza DJ set.

He is determined to celebrate and champion the independent record stores that he says remain the beating heart of British music culture.

“With the continued growth of vinyl across the UK and being a DJ and music producer for 25 years, I really want to celebrate the record stores we have and keep them going,” says Paul. “I’m hoping to achieve the GWR of most record stores visited with an album purchase. I will be visiting, purchasing and taking a picture with a member of staff in each store I reach within the 24-hour period. This feels like a positive for independent record stores across the UK.”

So what better place to start than at Brighton’s oldest record shop? Paul will be travelling the south coast and finishing on October 15 in Southampton.

Good luck Paul!
